Adani Issues Congress Demands To Call SEBI Chief Opposes BJP In Parliament Standing Committee

Congress on Adani Matter: Raising the issue related to the Adani group, some Congress MPs on Wednesday (March 15) at a parliamentary committee meeting said the heads of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Ministry of Corporate Affairs officials and other regulators should be called in for questions and answers.

BJP members, who sit on the Standing Committee on Finance, opposed the suit, saying the matter was under consideration by the Supreme Court. Sources have given this information. According to the sources, Congressman Manish Tiwari made this demand during the committee meeting. Other Congress members Gaurav Gogoi and Pramod Tiwari and Trinamool Congress’s Saugata Roy and Biju Janata Dal’s Pinaki Mishra and Amar Patnaik supported Tiwari.

The matter is pending in the Supreme Court.

Citing sources, PTI said BJP MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad, SS Ahluwalia and Sushil Kumar Modi strongly opposed the opposition members’ demand. The BJP members said: “The matter is pending in the Supreme Court and the high court has also formed a committee.” On the other hand, Congressman Manish Tiwari said that it is necessary to question and respond to the heads of SEBI, Reserve Bank and other regulators to find out if there is any regulatory failure on this issue.

the discussion did not reach any conclusion

The sources said the committee’s chairman, Jayant Sinha, asked members of Congress to put their demands in writing. After which the opponents said that it is part of the commission’s job to see the regulators work. The sources said that the discussion on this issue could not reach any conclusion. Earlier, the government had said in Lok Sabha on Monday (March 13) that SEBI is investigating Adani’s companies.
